The Retincel-10 is our encapsulated 1% cream formulated for acne-prone skin, delivering a high concentration of retinol to target persistent breakouts and blemishes. The encapsulated delivery system ensures a controlled release, minimising irritation while promoting cell turnover to clear pores and reduce the formation of acne. This serum supports a clearer, smoother skin texture. Retincel-10 is designed to be suitable for use in combination with all other products in the Acnea range and should not be combined with other retinols or retinoids.

- Encapsulated Retinol - a derivative of Vitamin A, used for accelerating cell turnover and boosting collagen production. It helps improve fine lines and uneven skin tone. Its ability to unclog pores also makes it effective against acne, promoting a clearer and more youthful complexion.

How to Use

Apply one to two pumps of cream onto fingers and massage gently into skin. Apply a layer of Acnea Hydracare before and after application of Retincel-10 for additional hydration if required.

How to Use

How Retinol Works

Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that penetrates efficiently through the skin’s lipid matrix (the oily structure that holds skin cells together). Once absorbed, it undergoes a two-step enzymatic conversion to become retinoic acid (the active form that binds to nuclear retinoic acid receptors, or RARs). Retinoic acid influences gene expression in keratinocytes (skin cells) to normalise desquamation (skin cell turnover) and reduce follicular hyperkeratinisation (buildup of dead cells within pores), two key contributors to comedone formation.

In acne-prone skin, this mechanism helps to regulate cell shedding, maintain clearer pores, and improve surface texture. Retinol also downregulates inflammatory pathways associated with active breakouts (such as IL-6 and TNF-α) and can visibly improve post-acne clarity over time. Compared to retinaldehyde and retinoic acid, retinol has a slower enzymatic conversion profile, offering controlled, progressive delivery that may benefit those introducing vitamin A or using it in combination with other actives.
